Thanks for being part of the Sarza journey and supporting our family of South African brands, artists and artisans. As a thank you, I thought it would be nice to share with you our favorite haunts in Cape Town – the places we love to visit when on our trips to the mother city. In my opinion the best times of year to visit Cape Town are April/May and October/November, but it is a beautiful city with so much to offer, no matter what time you visit.
We hope you enjoy our Sarza guide to Cape Town and these snaps from our family photo album.
Sarah, Sarza Founder

THE DORP HOTEL
This a gem of a small hotel is hidden at the top of Bo Kaap. It's very private and has an uninterrupted Cape Town vista, overlooking the ocean, the city, its harbor, the mountain and the mountains beyond that – there's simply no better view in my opinion.

THE BAHARI
The Bahari is your own private space overlooking Llandudno beach. This architectural masterpiece features furniture and decor from the Sarza collection and is available to rent through Perfect Hideaways - as are many beautiful properties all over South Africa.

STELLENBOSCH Stellenbosch is a university town in South Africa's Western Cape province. It's surrounded by vineyards and mountains. The historic town features traditional Cape Dutch architecture and the oak-shaded streets are lined with cafes, boutique stores and art galleries - including Sarza favorite, Mia Melange (pictured below).

TOKARA WINE ESTATE
We love visiting the Tokara wine estate for delicious food and wine tastings (it's also where we got married!). Situated in the heart of the Winelands, this unique venue offers a combination of award-winning wines and olive oils, a gallery of fine art, a restaurant featuring one of South Africa’s leading female chefs, as well as a delicatessen.

ORANJEZICHT FARMERS MARKET
The Oranjezicht Farmers Market celebrates local food, culture and community. It is part of a farming trust which works through food and farming to strengthen South Africa’s urban communities and the ecosystems that sustain them. We love the fresh produce and flowers here.

HIT THE BEACH
I recommend Clifton beach for the day, where you can rent loungers and umbrellas for a day of lazing in the sun (don’t forget to buy a granadilla lolly). Later head to Camps Bay for sundowners and dinner. Sounds like a perfect day to us!

PENGUIN WATCHING AT SIMON'S TOWN
Simon’s Town is lovely and it has a particular draw - African penguins in their thousands, on nearby Boulders Beach. African Penguins are known for their distinctive braying, and they’re the only penguins found on the continent. Few places offer as beautiful a viewing point as Boulders Beach.

TOUR THE BABYLONSTOREN GARDENS
Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. It has a beautiful and diverse fruit and vegetable garden, and a wonderful restaurant, Babel. This is also a fantastic accommodation option if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the wine lands.

TAKE A HIKE
Did you even go to Cape Town if you didn't hike Table Mountain?! Towering 1086 meters over the city, Table Mountain is a playground for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Trails offer incredible hiking options for all levels. Nearby Lion's Head is also a beautiful hike.

HEMELHUIJS, THE POT LUCK CLUB & FYN
Escape the city hustle and bustle at the stylish Hemelhuijs cafe in the centre of Cape Town. It's a modern, chic choice offering sophisticated cafe fare, plus juice blends & breakfast cocktails.
The Pot Luck Club has views of Table Mountain and serves sophisticated tapas. The modern, industrial space also combines cozy details. We love it here!
Fyn is a cutting-edge space on the fifth floor of a repurposed building just off historic Church Square. Serving African-Japanese fusion, we love watching the chefs at work in the open-plan kitchen. The dining room features Tulip Chairs from the Sarza collection.

THE WATERSHED & WATERFRONT
The famous Watershed is a beautiful and vibrant space where we love to shop for unique ceramics, textiles, furniture, fashion and jewelry, like Sarza favorite Beloved Beadwork (pictured below).
Next to the Watershed is the V&A Waterfront, with many wonderful restaurants and shops. If you have kids, the aquarium is also located here. For dog lovers, visit the Woof Project adjacent to the Watershed where they bring dogs up for adoption and allow you to sit and play with them. This area always has a vibrant atmosphere with exhibitions, bands and live entertainment.
